Capabilities & Turnkey Network

In-house precision meets scalable supply chain management.

What are 3Q Machining's core manufacturing capabilities? +

We provide a complete suite of manufacturing services to take your product from prototype to mass production. Our primary in-house capabilities include:

What types of CNC machines do you use and what are your standard tolerances? +

Our hardware fleet includes multi-axis CNC Mills, automated Turning centers (Lathes), high-speed Routers, and Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM/Wire-Cut) systems. The multi-axis flexibility allows us to cut complex geometries in a single setup.

Tolerances: We reliably achieve standard tolerances of ±0.02mm. For mission-critical features (like bearing press-fits or aerospace seals), we can hold extreme tolerances down to ±0.01mm (Note: ultra-tight tolerances require slower feed rates and will impact part cost).

How does your Turnkey Manufacturing Network (Sub-contracting) operate? +

While our in-house factory handles core precision tasks, our extensive Turnkey Manufacturing Network expands our capacity for highly niche processes (e.g., specialized Mil-Spec plating or massive die-casting runs).

The Algorithm-Driven Selection: When outsourcing is required to fulfill a complex assembly, we deploy a proprietary supplier algorithm. This evaluates potential partners based on:

  • Pricing competitiveness & machine fleet capacity.
  • Years in business and employee technical skill levels.
  • Historical Quality Control (QC) scores and lead-time accuracy.

The 3Q Guarantee: You never lose control. Every outsourced facility is assigned a dedicated 3Q Machining Project Engineer who acts as your eyes and ears on the ground, overseeing production and verifying quality before final assembly at our headquarters.

What are your Minimum Order Quantities (MOQ) and Lead Times? +

Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ): We offer flexible scaling. From 1 piece for rapid prototyping up to 10,000+ pieces for full production runs.

Standard Lead Times:

  • CNC & 3D Printed Samples: As fast as 3 to 7 days.
  • Injection Mold Tooling: Approximately 15 to 35 days (depending on mold complexity).
  • Mass Production Runs: 7 to 30 days.

What surface finishing options do you offer? +

Surface finishing is crucial for functional durability and cosmetic appeal. We offer standard and Mil-Spec post-processing, including:

  • As-Machined: Cost-efficient with fine, even tool paths.
  • Bead Blasting: 120-320 grit for matte/satin textures.
  • Anodizing (Type II): Clear, black, red, blue for cosmetics & corrosion resistance.
  • Hardcoat Anodizing (Type III): Thicker, extreme wear resistance.
  • Powder Coating: Durable baked finish in various colors.
  • Plating: Electroless Nickel, Zinc (Black/Blue/Clear), Chrome.
  • Chemical: Alodine (Conversion), Black Oxide, Passivate, Pickling.
  • Mechanical: Brushing, Polishing, Electropolishing.

Note: If you require a specific finish not listed, please specify it in your RFQ remarks. We partner with certified plating facilities for niche requirements.

What CAD file formats and specifications do you accept? +

To ensure accurate quotes and flawless production, please provide standard CAD formats. We accept:

  • 3D Models: STEP (.step, .stp), IGS (.iges), SOLIDWORKS (.sldprt), STL (for 3D Printing).
  • 2D Drawings: PDF or DWG (Highly recommended to call out critical tolerances, threads, and surface finishes).
  • Cosmetics: Please provide Pantone Numbers for specific colors, and Vector files (.AI or .EPS) for laser engraving or silk-screen logos.

Quality Control, FAI & Certifications

Absolute traceability and dimensional verification for mission-critical parts.

Do you offer First Article Inspection (FAI) before mass production? +

Yes. We highly recommend and provide a First Article Inspection (FAI) program to eliminate risk before scaling up to full production. This is standard protocol for our Injection Molding orders and can be specifically requested for CNC machining volumes.

How it works: We manufacture and ship two sets of sample parts to your engineering team for rigorous physical verification. Only after you validate the tolerances, assembly fit, and surface finish, do we authorize the green light for full-scale production.

What kind of quality and dimensional reports do you provide? +

Because we serve the aerospace and medical sectors, precision must be proven. Upon request (please note in your RFQ), we provide a Full Dimensional Inspection Report.

  • Equipment: Verified using calibrated micrometers, thread gauges, and our independent Hexagon Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) for complex 3D profiles.
  • Report Details: Includes verification of critical dimensions, thread pitch, true position tolerances, thicknesses, and depths against your original CAD/PDF specifications.
Can you provide Material Test Reports (MTRs) to prove metal grades? +

Absolutely. Counterfeit or impure materials are a major liability in high-risk applications. We provide official Material Certifications (EN 10204 3.1 equivalent) directly from the raw material mills.

These certificates guarantee the metallurgical integrity of your parts and typically include:

✔️ Material Heat Number
✔️ Exact Material Grade
✔️ Chemical Analysis (Composition)
✔️ Mechanical Properties
✔️ Material Dimensions
✔️ Heat Treatment Records (If applicable)
Do you allow Third-Party Inspections and what is your Rework Policy? +

Third-Party Factory Inspection: We are proud of our ISO 9001 facility. We fully welcome independent quality auditors (such as SGS, TÜV, or your own agents) to inspect the goods before shipment. Please notify our sales team 7 days in advance to book the inspection slot.

Rework & Refund Policy: We stand by our machining quality. If your order does not meet the agreed-upon specifications, please raise the issue within 5 business days of receiving the parts.

  • We will Rework or Remake if: There are unacceptable processing defects, failure to meet stated CAD tolerances, or incorrect material/surface finish was used.
  • We will Refund if: The part is fundamentally unmachinable to the spec after review, or if a rework agreement cannot be reached.

Logistics, Payment & Bulk Pricing

Streamlined international trade, fast global shipping, and transparent pricing.

What are your payment terms and accepted payment methods? +

To protect both parties and ensure smooth project kick-offs, our standard payment terms are structured by project phase:

  • Rapid Prototypes & Samples: 100% upfront payment to expedite processing.
  • Mold / Tooling Manufacturing: 50% deposit to commence tooling, 50% balance after T1 sample approval.
  • Mass Production Runs: T/T 30% deposit to procure raw materials, 70% balance before shipment (after passing pre-shipment or third-party inspection).

Payment Methods: We accept Bank Wire Transfers (T/T) for standard and high-volume orders. For faster turnaround on small prototype orders, we also support PayPal and Credit Cards.

How do you handle international shipping and customs? +

We export CNC machined parts globally on a daily basis. You can choose to use your appointed freight forwarder, or leverage our established logistics network.

Through our long-term partnerships with DHL, FedEx, and UPS, we secure highly competitive international air express rates. Deliveries to North America, Europe, and Japan typically take just 3 to 5 business days. For heavy, high-volume orders, we also arrange cost-effective sea freight solutions.

Do you offer bulk pricing or economies of scale for mass production? +

Yes. The highest cost in CNC machining is often the initial setup (programming, tooling preparation, and machine calibration). Once the setup is complete, unit costs drop dramatically.

When submitting an RFQ for large or ongoing projects, you can request custom bulk pricing tiers. We will break down the quote into different volume brackets (e.g., 100 pcs vs. 1,000 pcs vs. 10,000 pcs) so your purchasing department can identify the most cost-effective price breaks.
